About
Rolling Traveler is a blog about traveling with a wheelchair. I’ve been in a wheelchair most of my adult life, and I’ve lived away from my home country and traveled for all of that time, and I want to share some of those experiences with other people in similar situations. I also want to hear other people’s experiences, and build this blog into a resource for people in wheelchairs, especially those who travel and lead active lives.
However, this blog is not just for wheelchair users. Many other people have other issues to consider when they are traveling or even just living their daily lives: getting around with a baby stroller can be just as challenging as getting around in a wheelchair, and anyone who’s ever been on crutches with a broken leg knows how important it is to know where ramps, elevators and accessible restrooms can be found.
Even if you have no issues to consider when you travel, I think you’ll find something to interest you here. Have you ever wondered what it’s like being in a wheelchair? Have you got any funny travel anecdotes to share? Are you planning on visiting one of the featured cities and wonder if there’s any special recommended restaurants? Browse and enjoy.

Derek, I have a new baby and I’m realizing how difficult it can be to get around with “wheels.” So many places don’t have ramps in the spot I need, or the automatic button to open a door doesn’t work.
Believe me, I understand. Adaptations for wheelchair accessibility are also very beneficial for people with pushchairs and baby carriages - it’s a very unfriendly world when you have wheels to worry about! I recommend taking a note of areas where you can’t get around easily, and writing about them to an appropriate authority, or getting someone else to write. These things need to be said out loud by as many people as possible.
I hope things get easier with time, and congratulations on the new baby! What’s his or her name?
Dude, I saw your reply to the Answerman about touching the hem of his cape, and nearly shot coffee thru my nostrils!! You rock!! I’m adding you to my blogroll, if that’s ok with you. I like what I’ve read so far!
Thanks. I’ll be updating my blogroll tomorrow, and I’ll add you right back. I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog. Your Stitch Witch blog is a great read - you have a fun style that I really appreciate.
